Round 6 Preview: Returning to Oulton Park
This weekend, we return to Oulton Park for Round 6 of the championship and I’m heading there with plenty of confidence.
It will be our second visit to the circuit this year. When we arrived for the opening round of the season, the R9 was still a completely new package and we were only beginning to understand its potential. To leave that weekend with two third-place finishes was a massive achievement and the perfect way to kick-start the year.
A lot has changed since then.
Over the past five rounds, we’ve continued to learn, improve and develop the R9. With every weekend, I’ve become more comfortable on the bike, and the team has done an incredible job of helping me find the confidence to push it harder.
We now head into Round 6 sitting second in the championship. That position reflects the progress we’ve made, but there is still plenty of work ahead of us. The championship is entering an important stage, and every session, qualifying position and race result will count.
Returning to a circuit we already know gives us a strong reference point. We understand where we were at the beginning of the season, and this weekend will be a great opportunity to see just how far we’ve come since then.
Oulton Park is a demanding circuit, but it’s also one I really enjoy. It has a brilliant mix of fast, flowing sections, elevation changes and technical corners. You need confidence in the bike and a setup that allows you to attack and right now, I feel we have both.
The two podiums at Round 1 gave us an incredible start to the season. This time, we’re returning with more experience, a stronger package and even bigger ambitions.
I’m feeling really confident on the R9, and I believe we can be super competitive throughout the weekend. The aim is to start strongly, keep building through every session and put ourselves in the fight when the lights go out.
A huge thank you to the team, our partners and everyone supporting us this season. Your backing means so much, and we’ll be giving everything at Oulton Park.
Let’s see what Round 6 brings.
