Ben Currie Ready For Round 2 At Donington Park After Strong Oulton Park Opener
British Supersport Championship contender Ben Currie heads to Donington Park this weekend for Round 2 of the 2026 British Supersport Championship, carrying strong momentum after a double podium finish at the opening round of the season.
Riding the all-new Yamaha R9 for the McAMS Yamaha team, Currie secured two third-place finishes at Oulton Park during the bike’s debut British Supersport race weekend an important step forward following a demanding pre-season focused on development and testing.
Despite encouraging early results, Currie remains focused on the bigger picture as the team continues unlocking the full potential of the new package.
“Oulton Park was a really positive way to start the season. After the challenges we faced during testing, to come away with two podiums was honestly more than we expected. The team worked incredibly hard and we made some important progress with the bike over the weekend.”
Donington Park now presents a different challenge altogether. Known for its fast-flowing layout and commitment-heavy corners, the circuit has long been one of the most iconic venues on the British Superbike calendar — and a track Currie believes will provide another valuable test for the evolving R9 project.
“Donington is always special. It’s one of those circuits every rider loves and the atmosphere there is incredible. We’re still learning every time we go out on track with the R9, but I’m excited to see what we can achieve this weekend and continue building momentum.”
Alongside his racing campaign, Currie’s rapidly growing behind-the-scenes YouTube series continues to gain traction, giving fans unprecedented access into life inside the British Superbike paddock. His latest race weekend vlog from Oulton Park is available now, with the Donington Park episode set to follow after the event.
